Throughout my five years as the Executive Director of Region Nine Development Commission, a question has constantly been asked, “Who speaks for rural MN?”.
December 9, 2016 – The Greater Mankato area is home to a rising number of elderly people as the baby-boom generation reaches retirement age, which could cause rippling effects on the region.

November 4, 2016 – The Region Nine Development Commission’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca and Watonwan counties has been developed and is in a 30-day review and comment period.
Washington, DC – Congressman Tim Walz (D-MN) was honored with a 2016 Congressional Partnership Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) for outstanding leadership in promoting federal community, economic, and infrastructure development programs.
Oct. 12, 2016 – The Region Nine Development Commission held an open house at Turner Hall Wednesday, to honor three retiring commissioners: Brown County Commissioner Jim Berg, Township Supervisor Fredrick Juni and Sleepy Eye Mayor Jim Broich.

Washington, DC – Following the February 3rd fire in Madelia, the City of Madelia and Region Nine Development Commission worked together to apply for a $100,000 technical assistance grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA).
