The purpose of the Region Nine transportation program is focused on maintaining and improving the various modes of transportation within the nine-county region and beyond.  We work with Mn/DOT, local units of government, legislators, citizens, and other organizations to continually focus on bolstering transportation facilities, options, and resources in south-central Minnesota. 

The Region Nine Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), a committee composed of elected officials and engineers oversees the general functions of the transportation program at Region Nine.  Please visit the TAC Homepage.

Under the agreement with the Minesota Department of Transportation, Region Nine is involved with the following:

Member of the Area Transportation Partnership

     Member of Transit and Enhancements subcommittees

Administering the Transportation Advisory Committee

Serving on various transportated related committees

Conducting Regional Significance Reviews of proposed projects

Serving as a liaison between MNDot and the region

Assisting communities with grant applications

Conducting and assisting in various studies:

    Freight

    Ethanol and Rails

    Functional Classification

    Localized studies

Transit Planning

Long-Range Planning

Increasing air service to the Region

Working with other cross-discipline departments

    MN River Area Agency on Aging

    Community Development

    Economic Development

Participating in the legislative process

Other discretionary items
