According to the Small Business Administration, 98% of all U.S. non-farm businesses qualify as "small businesses." Unfortunately, almost half of all new small businesses fail within the first two years; 80% close within 10 years. While many ventures are begun by good craftspeople and technicians, those individuals often need additional skills to effectively compete in the marketplace.

The mission of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is to promote growth, expansion, innovation, increased productivity, and improved management for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the south-central region of Minnesota by providing business consulting and training seminars to existing and start-up businesses.
