TRANSIT SOFTWARE GRANT PROJECT

Region Nine Development Commission, along with partners at the Minnesota Department of Human Services and Minnesota Department of Transportation, recently completed a transit software grant research initiative known as the Transit Route Coordination and Billing System Integration Project.

The Transit Route Coordination and Billing System Integration Project was a multi-purpose approach designed to integrate research of coordinated billing methods, coordinated transportation efforts, and software designed to accommodate both.   The research included in this project is guided by the vision that any rider can utilize any public transit service at any location across the state of Minnesota with uniform ease, regardless of how their ride will be funded.  Conversely, the transit provider may provide service rides to any individual and easily recover reimbursement payments by a secondary funding source in a fair and equitable manner.   These coordinated efforts are designed to benefit riders, transportation providers, and sources for funding support.

The information submitted in this report was gathered over an 8-month span (October, 2008 to June, 2009) and includes the details of the work completed, project parameters, approach, project timeline and budget.  Supplemental reports, data sets, survey results, and matrixes are provided as appendixes for ease of reference.
