Get Involved

Region Nine offers several opportunities for the public to get involved throughout the region. Below are a list of committees that are facilitated by Region Nine. If you are interested in learning more about a committee, communicate with the staff contact person. 

Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC)

The committee provides technical advice and recommends actions to the Transportation Planner on transportation issues, plans, programs and goals within the geographical area served by Region Nine. The committee provides input on local and regionally significant projects.

Meets: Quarterly during business hours.

Community Development Committee

The committee provides technical advice and guidance to the Community Development Department and on the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) report. Committee meetings typically have a speaker focused on one of the following areas: workforce, employment, business development and economic development policy issues.

Meets: Quarterly (Jan., April, July, Oct.), the third Thursday of the month, 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Legislative & Communications Committee

The committee establishes legislative priorities and policy recommendations, advocates for the region's needs and communicates as needed.

Meets: On average four times per year as needed.

Region Nine Renewable Energy Task Force

The Region Nine Renewable Energy Task Force (RETF) actively pursues opportunities to promote energy saving technologies, develop the renewable energy industry in southern Minnesota and the use of clean energy, all of which improve the economic and environmental well-being of the region. Click here to learn more about RETF. 

Meets: Second Friday of every month from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Climate Change Adaptation Task Force

The Climate Change Adaptation Task Force (CCATF) guides the work of Region Nine in assessing the vulnerabilities of the region to hazards created by climate change; and creating a plan to help communities develop strategies to adapt to those changes.

Revolving Loan Fund

The committee reviews and approves applications to the Revolving Loan Fund program. Click here to learn more about the Revolving Loan Fund.

Requirements: Members of this committee must have a business or banking background with the ability to read and understand financial statements.

Meets: As needed with the potential to meet monthly during an influx of applications. Typically held on Tuesdays during business hours.

Region Nine Area Inc. Board of Directors

The Region Nine Area Inc. (RNAI) Board of Directors governs the non-profit arm of Region Nine. Members supervise, control and direct the affairs and property of RNAI in accordance with the 50l(c)(3) provisions. The Board guides the work done by Region Nine staff operating RNAI including: grant-writing, fiscal sponsorship and budget review. Click here to learn more about RNAI.

Terms: Each board member serves a three year-staggered term. 

Meets: Four times per calendar year. Typically held on Tuesday evenings.
