Get Involved

Region Nine offers several opportunities for the public to get involved throughout the region. Below are a list of committees that are facilitated by Region Nine. If you are interested in learning more about a committee, communicate with the staff contact person. 

Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC)

The committee is a forum for regional stakeholders to provide input on transportation projects, policies and planning initiatives of regional and statewide significance. The committee is composed of RNDC commissioners, MnDOT and Mankato Area Planning Organization staff and city and county engineers.

Meets: Quarterly during business hours.

Community and Economic Development Planning Committee

The committee provides technical advice and guidance to the Community Development Department and on the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) report. Committee meetings typically have a speaker focused on one of the following areas: workforce, employment, business development and economic development policy issues.

Meets: As needed. Typically during business hours.

Legislative & Communications Committee

The committee establishes legislative priorities and policy recommendations, advocates for the region's needs and communicates as needed.

Meets: On average four times per year as needed.

Region Nine Renewable Energy Task Force

The Region Nine Renewable Energy Task Force (RETF) actively pursues opportunities to promote energy saving technologies, develop the renewable energy industry in southern Minnesota and the use of clean energy, all of which improve the economic and environmental well-being of the region. Click here to learn more about RETF. 

Meets: Second Friday of every month from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Revolving Loan Fund

The committee reviews and approves applications to the Revolving Loan Fund program. Click here to learn more about the Revolving Loan Fund.

Requirements: Members of this committee must have a business or banking background with the ability to read and understand financial statements.

Meets: As needed. Typically held on Tuesdays during business hours.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors have legal and ethical responsibility to ensure RNDC does the best work possible in pursuit of its's goals.

Terms: Each board member serves a three year-staggered term. 

Meets: Feb, Mar, May, June, Aug, Sep, Nov, Dec at 4:30 p.m.

Budget & Personnel

The committee provides oversight and guidance to the organization in regard to annual budgeting, personnel issues and updating organizational policies as appropriate and in accordance with the law. 

Meets: Monthly meetings are held during budget season (Mar-Jun) in the evening. Meetings throughout the remainder of the year are held as needed.
